Cinematographer Winston Moon joined the Murdered on the Fourth of July team this summer, bringing not only his camera, lighting and visual storytelling talents to the project, but also his approach to being “an authentic human.”
“I’m blessed to have an intuitive relationship with story and images and am very much led by my heart in all projects I get involved with,” Moon says. “Breaking things down to essential archetypal elements is a particular gift of mine as well, and I enjoy finding and romancing the kernel in every story and scene.”
Moon’s interest in Murdered on the Fourth of July springs from his own experience as a musician in the punk scene of his hometown, Seattle, during the late 1990s.
“I was immediately drawn to the subject matter,” he says. “Violent gang factions were an unfortunate aspect of the scene I grew up in as well, and when [director/producer] Pj Perez informed me about these two friends who were murdered and their story, I said sign me up!”
Moon’s previous cinematography work includes commercials, short films (both narrative and documentary), and most recently, the pilot episode for The Amazing J. Nicole: Untangled Mirror, which will have its theatrical premiere on November 11 at the AMC Town Square 18 in Las Vegas.
