Our crowdfunding campaign to kickstart production on Murdered on the Fourth of July ended this morning with a “Green Light” from Seed&Spark, having raised a total of $11,100–only 8% shy of our $12,000 total goal–thanks to the contributions of 92 generous supporters.
That is incredible. It demonstrates how important this project is to so many people. And it means, while we have a lot of work to do, we’ll be able to start doing it (again) from a comfortable position.
So, what’s next?
Once funds are collected by Seed&Spark and provided to us via our fiscal sponsor, the International Documentary Association, we can get back to work on production of this film. That includes:
- Locking in the dates for our first Las Vegas production trip
- Confirming and scheduling interviews to film
- Acquiring insurance for the production
- Reserving any additional equipment / resources needed
- Filming interviews and B-roll on location
While that is happening, we will be continuing to acquire archival footage and photos (if you have any of these, please let us know!), engage in additional research, do outreach to the next round(s) of interview subjects, conduct pre-interviews, and apply for additional funding to see this project through to the end.
We will continue to post regular updates on Murdered on the Fourth of July‘s progress here, but for even more behind-the-scenes and in-progress content, please follow our production company, PKWY Media, on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn, and if you haven’t yet, consider subscribing to our email newsletter so you don’t miss any important news about the film!
